Kevin Jinn
CO-PRESIDENT
Hi! I’m a second year in the MLA program and am co-president with Naomi. My undergrad is in Visual Arts. Kevin has studied Environmental Studies and Ethnobotany at UVic and has a Visual Arts degree from SFU. I am the director of Carleton Landscaping, a landscaping company based in Vancouver BC, which focuses on using native plants and ecologically sustainable gardening practices in the urban environment. I am interested in horticulture, ecology and botany, with a focus on native plants and ecosystems of the world. I am dedicated to ensuring that the student experience is fair, fun and rewarding for all in our student body.

Naomi Wood
CO-PRESIDENT
I'm a second year MLA student with a background in applied biology. I love this program because it has taught me so much about solutions to the problems that matter most to me, such as biodiversity loss, climate change, and urban livelihood. Outside of school I'm passionate about reading, sewing, dancing, and running. When I'm out and about, my favourite plant to see is a vine maple in the autumn. In this position I aim to bridge the divide between students and the exciting opportunities and benefits available in our program.

Alex Ferreira
VP EXTERNAL
Hey! I’m a first year MLA student with a background in urban forestry. Before starting my MLA, I graduated from UBC’s urban forestry program, then worked for 2 years as an Arborist before deciding I wanted to flip to the design world. I'm passionate about the intersection of design and the urban forest, particularly how landscape architecture can enhance and expand our city's tree canopy. Outside of school, I love being outdoors - whether that be trail running, biking, or other water sports! As for a favourite plant (which changes quite often), Acer macrophyllum (bigleaf maple) is a favourite right now, there’s nothing like the beautiful green colours when looking up inside the canopy on a sunny day. As VP External, I’m excited to continue on building a strong relationship between LASA and the BCSLA!

HEALTH & WELLNESS
Hai! I’m a second-year Master of Landscape Architecture student and multimedia artist with a background in Visual Art and Art History (BA, MA). My love of all things creative informs my connection to health and wellbeing. Before pursuing landscape architecture, I worked in forestry and education. Outside of studio life, I enjoy hiking, yoga, snowboarding, and going to concerts. As Health and Wellness Coordinator, I’m passionate about fostering a healthy, connected student community while making sure there are always snacks and smiles. I love Oemleria cerasiformis (osoberry) for its early blooms, vibrant energy and because it signals spring and renewal.

HEALTH & WELLNESS
Hello! :) I’m a second year MLA student who really enjoys striking a good conversation and fostering spontaneous connections between people. I grew up in Vancouver and studied Natural Resources Conservation (yes, also here at UBC) in my undergrad. During those years, I had spent some time in the Himalayan foothills learning about forest management, and worked with climate-focused organizations like Be The Change Earth Alliance and the BC Cycling Coalition. These experiences taught me that design is deeply connected to community health, environmental justice, and how we move through our cities.
Outside of school, you'll find me running–or cycling–around Vancouver. I’m always curious about how people interact with the landscapes around them. One of my favourite trees is the Araucaria araucana, better known as the monkey puzzle, simply because of how distinct and fun it looks. Running around Vancouver makes me appreciate just how enormous they can be and the sheer number of them around our city considering that they’re non-native species.

Quinlan Bundschuh
COMMUNITY GARDEN & LIBRARY COORDINATOR
I grew up in rural southwestern Ontario near London. I developed a passion about design and landscape having grown up on a lavender farm. I received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from McGill university in 2023 where I became passionate about medium density housing and cultural projects. Following my undergraduate studies, I worked for two years at a multidisciplinary architecture and landscape architecture firm which inspired me to apply to the dual degree at UBC. At UBC, I am interested in studying how to better design our communities for climate uncertainty.
My favourite plant at the moment is Cornus florida. Though it’s native to where I grew up, it grows better here in Vancouver which has been interesting to see. Since LASA does not already have a community garden, I am excited to create a new space and get shovels in the ground!

GP Rep
Hola! I'm a 3nd year MLA student from North Vancouver. I did my undergrad here at UBC in the Geography Department majoring in Environment and Sustainability with a minor and GIS. Landscape architecture was the obvious next choice to try and combine my passions for nature and design.
When I'm not in studio I'll 100% be out riding my bike. I hope to be able to plan some great events for everyone in the year to come!

Ethan Eansor
1ST YEAR REP
Hey! I'm Ethan and I am one of the first year co-representatives for this year's executive team. In addition to acting as the voice for our first year cohort, I am dedicated towards improving the student life for those in their MLA in conjunction with the other members of our team. I have an extensive history of doing landscape architecture related work during my undergraduate degree in London, Ontario, and professional experience in my hometown of Windsor, Ontario. Outside of school I love pursuing anything active (especially hockey) and diving into my interests of nature, paleontology, and geomorphology. Since moving out here to British Columbia, my favourite plant to find in the landscape is Equisetum hyemale subsp. affine because of its overall unique form and prehistoric looking vibe.

Shirlei Emiko Ishizaki
1ST YEAR REP
Olá! My name is Shirlei and I was born and raised in Brazil as a third-generation of Japanese immigrants. I am a settler in the lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tseil-Watuth Nations in so-called “Vancouver”. I was called to the Urban Forestry program at UBC, where I completed my undergrad, which connected my passion for nature in human-centred systems. I continue to learn how to regenerate urban environments holistically via the Masters of Landscape Architecture.
My favourite flower at the moment is Kalmia latifolia, or mountain laurel, for its striking geometric shape.
It’s energizing for me to provide services to our collective program. I am excited to be engaged in events organized by LASA and connect with students!
